Monday Morning Recap, 11.30
A few thoughts on an amazing Sunday…
*Sunday’s service was a great way to end a great Thanksgiving week! Really enjoyed being with family this week and then really enjoyed being with my Oakbrook family Sunday…God is so good.
*As my younger friends would say…the prelude was “sick” yesterday! Which for all my not so younger friends that means it was good-really good! Thanks for the hard work band!!
*Oakbrook is joining the Advent Conspiracy! If you weren’t at the service yesterday you can check it out here…www.adventconspiracy.org. The bid idea is…take some of the cash you spend on needless Christmas stuff and give that cash to a world in need.
*We will be taking our Advent Conspiracy Offering at the Christmas services. You will get envelopes this Sunday and you can start praying asking God what He wants you to give and then give it in a spirit of joy at one of the Christmas services! I can’t wait!! Remember this money goes toward compassion initiatives in Haiti and in Kokomo and… it is above and beyond your weekly tithing.
*Christmas Services are coming! Dec. 23 & 24th. Invite cards will be available this Sunday. Start thinking about inviting.
*Church starts at 9:30 am this Sunday in the Lakeside Café-are you serious Mark? Yes I am! Cameron Sprinkle will be doing a mini-concert of Christmas music in the café this Sunday at 9:30am. Cameron is the guy who everybody loved at The Beatles Concert this year. Don’t miss it.
*Speaking of great Christmas music-Lakeside Books has Chris Tomilins new Christmas/Worship CD. You can stop by on Mondays 10-3pm at the bookstore and pick it up.
*I thought my daughter Sarah (the beautiful girl in the video yesterday) did an amazing job with that video! I have loved the videos each week. Way to go Joel Larison (he wrote the content for each video), Travis Carpenter and Brandon Lowery (they filmed, edited and produced each video).
*Did you know we want to hire Joel Larison after he graduates in December from IWU? Your giving matters you guys. There is enough resource in Oakbrook to hire Joel-but it is still in your wallets! Get it out and put it in the plate each week so we can get this done…seriously! Lets make this happen.
*2 amazing words Substitutionary Atonement! It is the amazing big idea in Gods story of restoration. Worship God this week for the atoning work he has done in your life!
*I’m already getting stoked about the talk this weekend. We will be talking about the church’s role in Gods story of restoration. Don’t miss it.
My wife is telling me I need to put up some Christmas lights-so gotta go!
As always-Don’t Just Talk About It Be About It!
Love doing church with you guys!!
Mark
