Monday Morning Recap, 04.26
Watching people walk into the auditorium yesterday carrying grocery sack after grocery sack full of food is something I will never forget! What a great day of generosity at Oakbrook!
Big thanks to Lee Southwell and a group of people who helped coordinate the Food Drive 2010-great job Lee and team!
The truck was full and I heard when the Kokomo Urban Outreach team saw the truck door open their mouths hit the floor! They were blown away by the generosity of Oakbrook. How fun is that?
Lee told me that Jeff Newton the Director of KUO said about 20 times (no exaggeration), "I can't believe this, this is amazing! You don't know how much we need this.
* A Oakbrook high school girl spent over $100 of her own money to purchase food for the needy. I think she brought in 8 bags of groceries!! Amazing.
So once again-Way To Go Everybody! Food Drive 2010 was such a wonderful example of the power of Corporate Compassion.
Now lets keep it going each week with some serious Organic Compassion-Ephesians 2:10! Mow a yard, give someone a Book/Bible, write an encouraging note, give to a local food pantry, take a elderly person grocery shopping, bring a co-worker some Starbucks, prepare a meal, mentor a child, babysit for a young couple, volunteer at Oakbrook...you get the idea. Lets compassionately lead people to Christ!
Everyday live in the zone of the "good works that God has prepared in advance" for you to do!
Want to change and grow? Who doesn't? Then get yourself to the Chick-Fil-A Leadercast on May 7th at Oakbrook. This will be an incredible day of learning and growing. More information HERE.
I'm asking every Oakbrook Small Group Leader, every Oakbrook Volunteer to attend the Chick-Fil-A Leadercast if possible. John Maxwell says, "Everything rises and falls on leadership." This is so true-Oakbrook will get stronger and more effective when we as leader get stronger and more effective. So please do whatever you can to be here for this great day of learning!
New Series starts this weekend called Staying in Love. We all know what it takes to fall in love-a pulse! Falling in love is easy but staying in love for the long haul? Thats something else entirely. Is it possible to fall in love and stay there? Absolutely and for the next 4 weeks we are going to learn how.
Staying in Love is an awesome opportunity to invite your friends to come with you and learn. Know anybody that is considering getting married, know anybody that is married but there marriage needs improvement, know anybody with a marriage in trouble? Please, please invite them. This series has the potential to protect and save relationships!
As Always...Don't Just Talk About It...say it with me...Be ____ __!
Love Doing Church with You Guys!

I just wanted to tell you how impressed I have been since I was invited to attend Oakbrook 5 weeks ago. I had been an active member at St. Andrews Episopal Church here in Kokomo and due to some personal issues, decided last fall to ‘take a break from church, not from God, but from organized church.” A good friend invited me to Oakbrook several times before I finally decided to at least go once and see what I thought. I came in the first time with some pre-conceived notions of how Oakbrook would be. When we walked out the first time, my friend asked me what I thought, expecting me to say that it “wasn’t for me” - I think the smile on my face told him otherwise!! I haven’t looked back and look forward to Sunday mornings again! Since sermon #1 and song #1 I have found “church” again and I wanted to thank you and your staff for that! Have a very blessed week!
