Monday Morning Recap, 03.01
My thoughts from another great day at Oakbrook...
Another great job by our music team during The Prelude! This "You Pick The Prelude" run has been a lot of fun. How did they get Sean Verlee's voice to sync with Bono's...very cool.
Classes@Oakbrook begin this week! 3 great classes are offered and there is still time to sign up. Just go to this link to get signed up...http://www.oakbrookchurch.com/events/page/classes
Baptism March 21!! If you have never been baptized you should prayerfully consider joining us for our next Baptism service. You can get all the information you need on our website to help you make your decision...http://www.oakbrookchurch.com/baptism_2010.
I loved giving the talk yesterday about Altars. This is truly a forgotten Ritual in todays church and we need to bring it back because...Altars help us remember what we should never forget. And they help us mark significant spiritual moments in our lives.
Here are the 4 Altars I talked about: Decision Altars, Dream Altars, Thanksgiving Altars, Epiphany Altars. Spend some time this week building your own Altars around these ideas. Mark these significant spiritual moments in your journey with physical altars. Then go to them often to worship and remember who God is and what he has done for you!
I had a great time last night in Logansport with the core group of a new church plant-Revolution Church. What an awesome group of people! Pray for Anthony Cozzello the Lead Pastor and his wife Shawna as they begin this great adventure. These guys are true Lion Chasers! Very proud of them.
How fun was it to sing Happy Birthday to my 90 year old friend Florence during the service? So thankful we have multiple generations attending Oakbrook!
If you think about it this week please pray for some friends at Oakbrook. Jessica Fennell-she recently had a heart valved replaced and is now home recovering. Dan Toor-had a lung biopsy last week and is waiting for the diagnose later this week. Please keep these people and their families in your prayers.
Also, don't forget to keep praying for Curtis Stout and Bruce Donaldson as they serve God in Haiti. God is using them in great ways!
* Don't forget a blog is 2-way communication. Send me you comments and thoughts!
Say it with me friends...Don't Just Talk About It...Be About It! Have a great week!
Love doing church with you guys,
Mark

Mark, thanks for the Monday morning updates, I always look forward to them. I also like the links to different things going on at the church, it makes it so easy to sign up for things. Lastly, thanks for sharing with us the prayer requests around the church. Any chance of making that a spot on the website so people can add theirs and pray for others?
Thanks for all you do!!!

Mark,
I love the Monday morning updates as well as the media player. It allows me to stay in touch with my church, even if I can’t make it to the actual service. Thank you for continuing to make a difference in lives, that are outside our church’s four walls.
Sending God’s blessings your way!!!

Thanks Mark for a great talk yesterday. So amazing how God speaks to us if we listen.
I was reading another blog this morning and the word epiphany was used twice…I can’t remembe the last time I have seen this word before yesterday.
I also want to thank everybody for the comments and stories over the last couple of weeks. Love reading about how God is working for you.
Mike
Oh P.S. When are you going to rock out with one of the 80’s songs? I am pretty sure you have your favorites out of that time!

Mark, loved the talk Sunday about Altars. God has been moving in my life big time this year! It’s funny thing your talk was about altars Sunday, it reminded me of mine at Jackson Morrow Park. God had brought me there when I was in a bad place in my life. See I was contemplating just ending my life, because of my relationship with my kids. After my divorce I truly was selfish and neglected them. It was your Sermon on the “Wild Goose Chase” that got me thinking. I read the book, and God led me to my altar at the park. I walked around the park a few times and stared at the tables in the middle of the park. I couldn’t for the life of me take my eyes off of them, i was drawn to them. I walked over to the tables and sat down. That’s went I had my talk with God.I asked him to to take my guilt away & pain of all I did in the past to my kids, and asked for forgiveness my sins of wanting to do harm to myself. I prayed there for what seemed like an hour.Nobody was around. As I was leaving the park I asked God for a sign if He had heard my prayers, and He gave me the best sign I could have asked for. It was a goose call,a simple goose call. I looked everywhere for that goose but didn’t see it, I know it was from God! My life is all His now and Forever! I praise God every time I hear one now! MY kids and I have a much better relationship now. Thank you and your staff for such a wonderful church. I pray it’s there forever. Your friend in Christ! Jeff

Hi ! I really like the logic and judgement of the actual author. Very good to observe such principles discussed on the internet. You definitely should encourage visitor interaction and talk Buy an Essay. Keep up the good effort!
